Soak seeds 15-20 minutes before planting. A cool-season plant, calendula can be started indoors under grow lights 6-8 weeks before the last frost or directly seeded outdoors after the last frost.
Calendula grow nicely in the vegetable garden. Good companions are: Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Peas, Carrots, Asparagus, Spring salad vegetables. The flowers bloom best in cooler weather with low humidity. Cut them back and they will reward you with new growth and more flowers when the weather cools off.
Picture of the Flower is the plant from my yard where the seeds were harvested. Mine bloomed early summer, died off, and came back early fall! Gorgeous yellows and oranges!
